What does Communication mean at Akoio?
Communication really is the key that unlocks connection, especially when it comes to relationships. The ability to fully communicate your needs, your expectations, and your emotions is a true gift, one that is not easily available to everyone. Communicating effectively can be challenging regardless of your personal skills, limitations, and abilities. It becomes especially difficult when Soundscape issues such as intrusive noise, difficulty hearing, or sound-related distractions are happening around you (read about our perspective on FOCUS). However, with great tools, there are ways to make communication much more effective and rewarding, regardless of your Soundscape challenges.
Let’s talk about hearing.
According to the World Health Organization, nearly 2.5 billion people are projected to have some degree of hearing loss, and at least 700 million more will require hearing rehabilitation by the year 2050. As staggering as these numbers are, many more people with moderate to severe hearing loss will go undiagnosed.
We’re certain you may know someone that has been avoiding the audiologist, who may be in denial that they suffer from some sort of hearing loss or even some who just downright enjoy the fact that they can tune out when they’d like. We get it. Unfortunately, there is still a stigma about hearing loss. While other types of accessibility issues have become more socially acceptable (who doesn’t love their glasses these days?!), hearing just hasn’t turned the perverbial corner just yet.
What can be done?
What if we told you that there are hundreds of products on the market that are not hearing aids but will help you hear better? Have you heard of them? Probably not.
