Hearing Aid and Cochlear Implant Battery Subscription Service Expands to Help Meet Today’s Challenges

“Helping one person might not change the whole world, but it could change the world for one person!” This anonymous quote gets at the heart of Akoio’s mission to improve products and services for people who use hearing aids and cochlear implants; ultimately helping them overcome the frustrations and challenges commonly associated with hearing loss.

Routine office visits seem like a thing of the past

Did you know that when you purchase or receive a hearing aid, many audiologist offices and hearing and speech centers provide batteries for a specified period of time? Having an agreement like this traditionally requires routine clinic visits to check the health of your hearing device(s), in order to receive your batteries regularly. But in a world coping with a pandemic, in-person office visits are not always possible.

Paying for convenience adds up

Because of this, some hearing aid users are postponing their appointments and buying batteries at drugstores. Therefore, spending more to travel less. Often times spending up to $12 a pack!

COVID-19 has caused many offices and clinics to operate with limited hours, or provide telehealth only. With limited time and staffing, they can’t afford to waste time and money fulfilling hearing aid battery orders.

With the Akoio battery subscription service, HSDC outsources fulfillment to assure the best service possible

Washington State based, Hearing, Speech & Deaf Center of Seattle (HSDC), expressed interest in Akoio’s new, consumer-focused, hearing aid battery subscription service. They asked if we could fulfill and distribute hearing aid batteries to their clients. Our answer? Of course! Our collaboration with HSDC ensures that their clients never run out of reliable, essential power for their hearing aids and other hearing devices. Plus, HSDC clients can elect to join Akoio’s free online community, with access to downloadable “how-to” talk about hearing loss guides, an audiology directory, hearing stories, blogs and more.

HSDC and Akoio worked together to notify patients, arrange shipments, and provide a hearing aid battery subscription to some 400 hearing aid users! At Akoio, we couldn’t be happier about our role in helping hearing aid users stay healthy at home. Above all, we’re grateful that HSDC can focus more time providing care and advocating for individuals and families affected by hearing or speech differences. They no longer have the worry of fulfilling hearing aid battery orders.

We are honored to partner with HSDC and excited for this program’s success. If you find yourself running out of power on a regular basis — or paying higher prices for your batteries at the store — we encourage you to consider our subscription service. Our retail price is $6 per pack of 10, 13, 312, and 675 sized batteries. Each 90 day subscription includes a minimum of 2 packs of power one batteries and shipping is always free! Also, we are happy to customize a subscription order to meet your needs. Please reach out to us with any questions.
